🦌 The Story of Le Chevreuil Savoyard (The Savoyard Roe Deer)

A Family Legacy in the Heart of the Alps

It all began with the first footsteps into the wild beauty of the Tarentaise Valley. The first generation pitched tents at Camping des Lanchettes, wandered the trails of Les Arcs, and fell under the spell of Savoyard beautytowering peaks, whispering pines, and that pure mountain air that seemed to cleanse the soul.

Then came the second generation, drawn by the same magnetic charm. They too began to explore this hidden gem — a place where light dances on snowy drifts in winter and summer meadows hum with life. It wasn’t just a destination anymore; it was becoming home.

❄️ 1984: A Turning Point

That year, the Vallandry snow front was born — a new chapter for the resort and for us. We became owners, laying down roots with the construction of the Résidence "Les Michailles", a modest yet meaningful beginning.

Back then, Vallandry was still a blank canvas: no bustling chalets, no ski lifts in the background. Just open slopes, untouched snow, and the quiet promise of what could be.

📸 The photos below capture that moment in time — a resort still in its infancy, waiting to be shaped by dreamers and adventurers.

🏔️ A Legacy That Keeps Growing

As the second generation fell deeper in love with the mountains, they brought along a third — their third: children with wonder-filled eyes, bundled up in ski suits, cheeks flushed by the cold, their laughter echoing through the Vallandry forest or between the wooden chalets of the resort.

With this new chapter came the purchase of a second studio — a cozy alpine nest where memories would multiply like snowflakes in winter.

This youngest generation grew up with skis on their feet and hiking boots waiting by the door. They learned to glide down morning-lit slopes covered in fresh powder, to follow winding trails across mountain streams, and to marvel at marmots darting from their rocky hideouts. Each season brought its own adventures: snowball fights beneath starry skies, picnics by babbling brooks, and peaceful evenings wrapped in wool blankets, watching the mountains blush at sunset from the balcony’s perfect angle.

Frequent visitors to this special corner of the world, they didn’t just enjoy the Alps — they became part of them: of their rhythm, their quiet, their soul.

🏞️ A Return Rooted in Memory

With a family identity quietly yet surely woven through decades of alpine adventures, the third generation returned to Peisey-Vallandry — no longer as children, but as young adults ready to write their own story.

Years of studies had kept them away, but the mountains had never truly left them. So when the time came to choose their first holiday without their parents, there was no hesitation. They chose the place that had shaped their childhood, their values, their bond: a timeless refuge nestled in the heart of Savoie, in the Tarentaise Valley.

They didn’t realize it at the time, but this wasn’t just a vacation. It was a pilgrimage, a tribute to the legacy passed down like a family heirloom — a tribute to storm-dodging hikes, countless crêpes devoured, ski lifts taken, and sunrises watched in awe. Over more than 45 years, three generations had etched their laughter into these slopes, their stories into these trails. And now, they were adding new memories — completing the cherished mosaic of childhood.

Today, the youngest return regularly, bringing with them the second generation — who, even after more than forty years, still manage to rediscover a mountain they’ve seen time and again. It’s not about nostalgia, it’s about continuation. About walking familiar paths with fresh eyes, raising a toast to old traditions with new voices, and feeling, in every breath of mountain air, the quiet echo of those who came before, and of some who are no longer here.

🏔️ A Home Etched in Snow and Sunlight

Within these walls, laughter once echoed through crisp winter nights, and sun-drenched mornings began with coffee on the balcony, facing peaks that blush pink at dawn.

Here, we’ve built a mosaic of unforgettable memories: ski tumbles that ended in laughter, shared meals that turned into storytelling marathons, and peaceful moments playing board games, where time seemed to stand still.

Now, we want to pass on the joy of living here, so that you too can feel what we’ve felt, and truly grasp the depth of this story.

✨ We hope you’ll write your own chapter in this storybook setting. That the stars will align just right: a perfect snowfall, a spontaneous hike that becomes a lifelong tradition, stories that will still be told 40 years from now...

In 2025, switching resorts is as easy as a snap of your fingers. And yet, we’ve never left. Why? Because this place isn’t just charming — it holds our hearts.

💫 It’s that emotion, that unwavering loyalty, that we hope you’ll feel too. Come and discover our little slice of paradise, freshly renewed, quietly magical, and ready to welcome you.
