🍽️ Bars & restaurants

They say good food is the beginning of happiness — and in Peisey-Vallandry, happiness is definitely on the menu!

While you’ll find a handful of cozy restaurants in Peisey, Nancroix, and Landry, the real culinary playground is on the snow front, where options abound: from hearty mountain fare to gourmet surprises, family-friendly spots to après-ski hangouts.

They’re delicious. They’re welcoming. They’re kind. And yes — we’ve tried most of them ourselves! Book with us, and we’ll happily share our personal favorites 😉

We won’t overwhelm you with a full list, but if you’re wondering what awaits your taste buds, here’s a glimpse of what you’ll find:

🏔️ Mountain & Slope-Side Dining

Image

Whether you're carving down the slopes in winter or cycling through alpine trails in summer, you’ll never go hungry in Peisey-Vallandry! Even during peak times, the restaurants here are efficient and well-organized, so you can refuel without the wait.

🍴 Vallandry Highlights
  • 2 mountain-top restaurants with panoramic views
  • 7 slope-side eateries, 5 of which stay open in the evening
  • In summer, only one is definitely closed, with two others possibly operating with reduced service
🍽️ Plan-Peisey Options
  • 2 altitude restaurants (closed in summer due to lift closure)
  • 4 slope-side spots, all open evenings and summer season

And don’t forget the altitude and slope-side restaurants in nearby La Plagne and Les Arcs — perfect for a scenic lunch or après-ski treat!

🧀 What’s on the Menu?

Expect simple, satisfying mountain cuisine that hits the spot after a day outdoors:

  • 🍔 Brasserie-style dishes: juicy burgers, grilled meats, and hearty salads
  • 🥞 Crêperies: sweet and savory options for every craving
  • 🫕 Savoyard classics: fondue, raclette, and tartiflette — yes, even in summer! There’s no season for comfort food here.

🍷 Traditional Restaurants

Image

Sometimes, it’s the slope-side eateries that transform in the evening, offering a more refined, gastronomic menu. Other times, it’s places that are entirely different in spirit — crafted with care, both in their culinary approach and the experience they offer.

These restaurants tend to be quieter, far removed from the bustling après-ski vibe or the high-turnover feel of the snow front. Yes, the prices may be a little higher — but the flavors, the ambiance, the attention to detail? Absolutely worth it.

🍇 For Wine Lovers

The wine cellars in these establishments are often exceptionally well-stocked—we’re talking serious oenophile territory. You might even spot legendary bottles like Château Margaux, Château Cheval Blanc, or Romanée-Conti... if you're ready to splurge a little.

🌟 A Must-Try: L’Ancolie

No guide would be complete without mentioning L’Ancolie, a deeply special place run by Jeannette, mother of David Poisson, a beloved local hero and member of the French alpine ski team who tragically passed away during training in Canada in November 2017.

Jeannette has lovingly taken over the family restaurant, offering an intimate and unforgettable dining experience, limited to just 2 or 3 tables per service. It’s not just a meal — it’s a moment. Don’t hesitate. Just go. But book before!

🍕 Pizza Spots on the Snow Front

What’s a ski resort without pizza? Not much! Luckily, Peisey-Vallandry has two slope-side pizzerias, including one that stays open off-season, both serving top-quality ingredients with generous portions.

  • 🍕 Open in summer too, so you can grab a cold beer while waiting for your pie

  • 🧑‍🎿 Popular with locals and seasonal workers — you’ll likely bump into ski instructors or shopkeepers you’ve seen around

  • 📜 Extensive menus with something for everyone

  • 🔄 One even offers a rotating “pizza of the moment”, so there’s always something new to try

🍫 Sweet Breaks & Cozy Treats

Snack time isn’t just for well-behaved kids — we’re just as guilty of indulging in a steaming hot chocolate and a filled crêpe in winter, or a refreshing ice cream sundae in summer!

After skiing or hiking, there’s nothing like a gourmet pause to soak in the scenery and unwind.

🏔️ Where to Treat Yourself

Most slope-side restaurants, along with a local grocery shop, offer:

  • 🍷 Mulled wine and other warming drinks
  • 🍸 Alcoholic beverages for a relaxed après-ski moment
  • 🍰 Decadent desserts to satisfy every craving

Whether you're nestled on a sun-drenched terrace or watching snowflakes fall, it's the perfect way to enjoy the calm after the storm — with breathtaking alpine views all around.
